EDGEMONT, PA – October, 2006 – Peak Beam Systems, Inc., manufacturer of the world’s most powerful handheld searchlight, the Maxa Beam, has introduced a specially engineered version of the Maxa Beam which includes an internal RS232 Computer Interface. The new MBS-430-RS Searchlight is designed to be mounted or integrated into land, UAV and marine platforms. The light can be controlled manually with a remote control or via computer interface.
The MBS-430-RS combines the high output and reliability of Peak Beam’s standard Maxa Beams with the new internal RS232 capability. The searchlight delivers 7.5 million Peak CandlePower and boasts three light intensity settings. The MBS-430-RS has a powerful, user-adjustable strobe and a motorized zoom that allows variable beam size from a 1° spot to a 40° flood. The searchlight’s 75-watt Xenon short-arc lamp is rated at 1,000 hours and is fully field-replaceable.
All features of the new Maxa Beam with Internal RS232 Computer Interface can be controlled from a computer terminal. The operator can also request feedback from the Maxa Beam indicating current beam state, zoom position and circuit board temperature. For vehicle-mounted or high-impact applications, the MBS-430-RS can be ruggedized by the addition of Mil Spec D38999 Series III Metal Connectors and the lens assembly can be stabilized with the new Maxa Beam “Spyder” Lamp Support. Direct powering options are available for the RS-enabled searchlight, allowing the light to be powered from a 12VDC, 24VDC, or 48VDC source and 100-240VAC sources.
