EDGEMONT, PA – May 2007 – Peak Beam Systems, Inc., manufacturer of world class high-intensity illumination systems, has introduced a watertight enclosure package for the company’s Maxa Beam Searchlight. The watertight enclosure has been specially designed by Peak Beam engineers to house the Maxa Beam in a secure, waterproof environment without affecting the searchlight’s powerful output.
The watertight system is currently being used by the US military and other defense contractors on a variety of manned and unmanned land and marine platforms, remote surveillance systems and lethal and non-lethal weapons systems.
The new MBPKG-E Watertight Enclosure Package includes a specially modified Maxa Beam MBS-430 Searchlight with an internal RS232 computer interface and a stabilizing “Spyder” lamp support. The enclosure is constructed of 6061 Passivated Aluminum and comes standard with a white weather-proof polyester coating. The front lens of the enclosure can be easily detached to provide access to the Maxa Beam’s front lens assembly. One Mil Spec D38999 Series III metal 12-pin connector in the enclosure’s rear panel provides both power and remote RS232 input. The enclosure is easily mounted to any base or structure.
The Maxa Beam Watertight Enclosure Package combines the high output and reliability of Peak Beam’s standard Maxa Beam searchlights with the security and weather protection of a custom-engineered, military-grade enclosure. The Maxa Beam searchlight delivers 7.5 million Peak CandlePower and boasts three light intensity settings. The searchlight included in the MBPKG-E has a powerful, user-adjustable strobe and a motorized zoom that allows variable beam size from a 1° spot to a 40° flood. The searchlight’s 75-watt Xenon short-arc lamp is rated at 1,000 hours and is fully field-replaceable.
All features of the new Maxa Beam Watertight Enclosure Package can be controlled from a computer using RS232 protocol. The operator can also request feedback from the Maxa Beam indicating current beam state, zoom position and circuit board temperature. The standard Enclosure Package is powered by 12VDC and packages can be modified with an internal power converter to run the light from a 24VDC or 48VDC source.
Due to recent engineering breakthroughs, the Maxa Beam in the Watertight Enclosure Package can be modified to achieve an output of 12 million Peak CandlePower. This unparalleled level of focusable light is accomplished with the utilization of a specially designed aluminum reflector.
