Edgemont, Pennsylvania – August 8, 2016 – Peak Beam Systems, Inc., manufacturer of high intensity Maxa Beam Searchlights, announced today that the company has issued a major update to its largest handheld searchlight kit, the Maxa Beam Force Protection Package. The military-grade system now features Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) battery technology and is packaged in a smaller, more compact storage case.
“The Force Protection Package has been widely fielded by the U.S. Navy for over 10 years and the system’s components – most notably the NiCad battery system – have become outdated and obsolete over time,” explains Annie Thorne, Peak Beam’s Director of Sales. “Now, with the upgrade to LiFePO4 batteries and the latest version of the 12,000,000 Maxa Beam Searchlight, our military operators will benefit from a longer battery run time, faster charge time, lighter weight, and a smaller, more streamlined system.”
The upgraded Force Protection Package’s three LiFePO4 batteries replace the older Nickel Cadmium battery system. LiFePO4 batteries offer multiple advantages over NiCad technology including a longer run time, faster charge time, better shelf life, lighter weight, and more total life cycles. The new iteration of the Force Protection Package weighs 18 lbs. less than the previous configuration and the price of the system has been reduced by more than 15%.
